Van Halen may be quite simply the greatest American rock band. Before Van Halen hit the scene in the late 70’s most rock was along the line of British Metal and it’s tales of demons and dragons. But Van Halen were from LA….sun…women…good times. So that’s exactly what they wrote songs about. They were one of the first bands to bring the chicks along and make it a huge party. They were the catalyst for the Hollywood, Sunset Strip scene that blew up in the 80’s.
Eddie Van Halen is on the Mount Rushmore of guitar players. The man invented a style that has been ripped off a million times but never duplicated.
The tunes are timeless…untouchable. Here is one of many you are sure to see in the future.
You know, as gay as everything from the 80s looks nowadays, this song does pretty much rock. I guarantee that if these dudes got into the visual style of today and redid the video using the technology and clothing styles, etc. that we have today, it would be on TRL every afternoon for a good three months.
Nice pick, but I still like to pretend they’re saying “Canada.”
One more thing: this song came on my
iPodiPhone today when I was jogging, and all I could think about was when he yells “Panama!” through that chick’s legs when she’s got one on the sink or whatever.
