Here’s an interesting story: three teenage boys in Texas are accused of torturing, beating, and beheading a girl’s small dog, named Tobey. The three boys, ages 12, 14, and 16, allegedly stole the dog from the owner’s yard, went to an abandoned house, and repeatedly threw it out of a second-story window. After its legs were broken, they hung it from a tree and beat it like a pinata with a board that had protruding nails, and eventually decapitated it.
Guadalupe county prosecutors say that they’re going to pursue the maximum sentence for the boys, what that could be is anybody’s guess. They’re hoping to have the boys locked up until age 19. However, people around Texas, America, and the world are not happy with this, and want the judge to enforce a new law that went into effect in the area dealing with animal cruelty that could get the boys 10 years in prison. The prosecutor is saying that they can’t ask for this punishment, since the law went into effect after the crime was committed. Even English songwriter Maria Daines is upset and wrote a tribute song and updated her website to mourn the loss of Tobey.
Okay, to me these people so outraged need a good hard slap in the face. Don’t get me wrong — I love dogs, and if anyone did this to my dog I would probably kill them. But really, how are people more outraged at the stupid crap people do to animals than what people do to each other? There’s another story about an old lady getting mugged and bleach thrown in her eyes – I don’t see people writing songs about that. Nor do I see people writing songs about a woman tortured by six West Virginians. And you can’t ask for 10 years in prison for these kids – that law wasn’t in effect, and while they may deserve it, they deserve their Constitutional right of ex post facto first. So seriously, kids are like that. They’re cruel, they don’t think, and biologically there’s an explanation for it (the frontal lobe, responsible for future planning and consequence-considering isn’t developed in males until the late teens/early twenties). So yeah it sucks, and torturing animals as kids is a common thread in serial killers and other violent criminals, but you can’t lock these kids up for 10 years because of this. So stop asking, stop writing emails, letters, and singing songs. It’s not going to happen. Chances are that if it’s these kids first offense, they’re going to get a few months and some counseling.
Not only this, but locking up a 12 year old for 10 years until he’s 22? Bad idea. Even the 16 year old — these are the years where they learn responsibility and how to be self-sufficient, etc., and if they learn nothing but prison life in these important years of their life, that’s all they’re going to know, and when they’re released at ages 22, 24, and 26 with no knowledge about life, where do you think they’ll end up again? Jail. We would actually be creating career criminals if we did this. A month or two, counseling, strict probation. That’s what they need.
F*ck that! Give me 10 minutes with these scum bag pieces of sh*t. I’ll shove a 2×4 full of nails up all their asses and then throw them in jail for 10 years. Better yet…take them out to the woods and put a bullet in their heads because the world is better off without them. These kids will grow up to be worthless scum bags anyway so f*ck counceling. People suck…animals are innocent. I wish one day I would roll up on someone abusing an animal…I will end up in jail.
The women in West Virginia (big suprise there) didn’t deserve that and those redneck losers should be shot too. We are to tolerant in this country. Off them all.
If these weren’t kids that did this, I’d say first they should have their balls chopped off (maybe they should anyways even if they are kids) so they can’t reproduce. Then, throw them in jail and beat the crap out of them daily for ten years. But dude, they’re kids. We’ve all done stupid crap when we were young.
And as for the rednecks, they get everything coming to them – they’re not kids. I do have a problem with that one though too – actually, not with that, just with the whole “hate crime” thing in general. But that I’ll save for a future post.
OMG! That is so F****** disgusting and demented! I am throwing up in my mouth a little right now! I think they should skip jail and go straight to Hell ( no matter how young they are, that is no excuse) Sorry not trying to be mean but seriously people, how could they? UGH!
Steve, I can see what your saying about locking these kids up during the formative years….perhaps being more of a problem, but if we applied your thinking to other situations, we’d never have anyone in jail. That’d be like saying, “Don’t lock this guy up because he has 3 kids at home that won’t have a father, and that’ll make them grow up to be shitheads and they’ll end up in jail too”.
If the kids parents haven’t taught them consequences by now then let the system teach them. Plus, I think they need psychiatric help….I never did anything like that when I was a kid. That’s wrong. Mark shot a lady in the tit with my BB gun through my back yard fence. The next door neighbors were having a garage sale and he hit her in the tit….we ran like idiots and she found us and I blamed Mark….lol. Rat fucker! LoL. Then my mom beat my ass, when she should’ve beat Marks ass! LoL.
Seriously, these kids need to help and they need to be punished…what kind of example would that set for other kids in that area? Hey, you can torture a helpless animal and not get in that bad of trouble…like the kids here that poured battery acid all over a cat and down it’s throat….I say they get acid poured on them….eye for an eye….you’d see a lot less crime that way my friend.
They were 12, 14 & 16 years old?…bottom line they knew what they were doing was wrong. These kids have some serious mental issues and need to be given the proper care… a good ol’ fashion BEATING!
Weave — I think you’re misunderstanding me. I’m not saying don’t punish them – in fact, I think I suggested some jail time, but with the addition of counseling, etc, providing they have no priors. But if we write them off at the age of 12? That’s just asking that after 10 years, what everyone wants them to get, they will commit more crimes and end up back in jail until they’re there for the rest of their lives, because that’s all they’d know. Punish the hell out of these kids, scare the crap out of them, but at the same time try to turn them into productive members of society. And I don’t think by any stretch I was saying don’t lock anybody up. If these kids were 18, yeah, lock them up for 10 years, I don’t care if they have kids or not. Better to not be a bad influence on them. And if these kids have been in and out of the system already (in other words my suggestions didn’t work) then yeah, keep them there for a long time. THAT’s when we write them off.
I’m not sure how many of you know this but I work at a juvenile detention facility, and see a lot of first timers and even more recidivists. The first timers often get it — for them I say good, I’ve done my job. The others, we don’t try as hard, because we know they’ll end up back with us. To me it’s that first time they’re in there — that’s our chance to turn them around. That’s all I’m sayin with these kids.
Emotionally, I am in complete and total agreement with Mark… although I’m not so good at violence so Ill the shoving of the nail ridden 2×4 up to him. Unfortunately, I do see some of Steve’s points too. Ex post facto, definitely agree, I think it stinks in many cases, but it is there for a reason.
Personally though, I don’t care what kind of frontal lobe development there is left for males, females, or even hermaphrodites at those ages… you just know better! We aren’t talking “oops I gave the birdie a bath and let him swim in the tub” accident. We are talking full-on violent behavior involved with murdering an animal. The 12-year old, I could definitely see wanting to follow the guys and be cool. The 14-year old eh he’s just confused with life in general so who knows what he was thinking. The 16-year old, seriously… I bet you he had an argument with his parents’ right before doing this because over being mature enough to get his license, but did this for amusement instead when they said no. The weave and mark… ran after hitting the ladies tit with the bb. Why? Because the KNEW it was wrong (and were going to be in deep ca ca if they got busted). They didn’t do it once, then tie her up and keep firing. They didn’t think that was great lets aim for the other one… they ran, because they KNEW better and KNEW there would be consequences.
These kids weren’t just screwing around to see what would happen, it was down-right evil. I think they should be punished and counseled to the fullest extent of the laws at the time of the crime for what each of them actually did. Details Damn It… I need details (not the gory ones)! Did they all play piñata or just one while the others watched? Were there protests from the others or was it an equal group effort? Inquiring minds want to know! I’m most curious to know which of the 3 had the brilliant idea to start with, and/or actually swung the board, dropped the dog, etc…. he’s the one we will see John Walsh asking our help in finding 5 or 10 years from now.
I think that they should be scared straight by one of those boot camps for kids. The goons bust in their bedroom in the middle of the night, pack their shit and then throw their asses into an unmarked van.
these kids are our future murdrers and sickos!!! get them early and take care of the problem before it becomes humans!
Actually, these kids are YOUR future neighbors. I’ve mentioned it before in other posts, but I’ll mention it again: first, chop off their balls so they can’t reproduce. Second, try some therapeutic punishment. If that doesn’t work, just keep em locked up.
