It’s being called the New Sanctuary Movement – churches across the nation, including Kansas, California, Arizona, and Texas, are reaching out to illegal immigrants and giving them food, shelter, and other necessities of life. One church in Kansas went so far as to erect a billboard with the words “Love the Immigrant as Yourself” written on it, an allusion to a well-known Bible verse. Though many people are against giving such aid to illegals, the New Sanctuary Movement argues that it’s the right thing to do, and that the immigrants have a basic civil right to live and work in safety, and also have a basic human right to be with their family. They also claim that there are rules for any immigrant that wants help: they must have American-born children (“Anchor Babies”), a good work record, and a good criminal record. The Movement claims what they’re doing isn’t illegal, because they won’t resist authorities if they come onto the property.
Quick Stats:
·21.2M illegals in US
·$397.4B in Social Services Since 1996
·4.2M illegals in schools
·347K incarcerated
·66oK fugitives
·2M “Anchor Babies” since 2002
·10.1M skilled jobs occupied by illegals
Okay, now I have a huge problem with this. First of all, it is against Federal Law to harbor any fugitive, and illegal immigrants are fugitives. Second of all, we don’t need to be encouraging illegal immigrants to find ways across the border in order to be put up with free food and shelter. Thirdly, there are currently over 21 Million illegal immigrants in America – immigrants receiving free health care, no taxes, and now, apparently get free food and shelter. How is it that I can be a citizen, work, pay taxes, and not even receive free health care? In fact, I don’t have any health care right now! This crap really pisses me off. Imagine how much more a drain on the country it would be if even more were determined to come over here, knowing they could be safe from the law in a church! Look at the statistics on the right. I don’t think it’s right now people are actually IN FAVOR of things like this. Legal immigration is fine, I say bring us your tired and your poor. But breaking Federal Laws and coming illegally isn’t the way to do it. Sneaking across, marrying, or having kids in order to stay isn’t right. It’s freakin’ selfish. My parents did it legally, why can’t everyone else? A-holes. That’s why.
Then there’s these churches — what the hell are they thinking? Yeah, there may be some sort of basic human right for food and all that, but at the risk of our own country? Our economy, or people, our security? I say no and that this has to stop. Just because they’re a church doesn’t mean they’re above the law. And where is the church getting the money from? Donations, I’m sure. Tithes, I’m sure. All tax-free, and the people who donate it can actually write it off as well. I think the Feds should go in and kick down some doors and make some arrests. Let it be known that America won’t stand for this, and being a church won’t get them out of it. I’m sorry, but we can’t keep having these people leech off of us.
In Cali it’s a huge problem. Hawaii, not so much, which is nice – I don’t have to be extra careful while driving in case I get hit by an uninsured, undocumented alien and be left with a broken truck that insurance won’t cover. I don’t have to worry about needing an emergency room that’s filled with illegals whom the hospital cannot deny help to. I don’t have to worry about crazy drug-smuggling fugitives breaking into my house at night trying to avoid the cops. And I don’t have to worry about terrorists sneaking across the Mexican border and making the short drive into my town to blow it up. That’s a good thing about Hawaii, but I still think this crap needs to stop. Now. If not, I foresee huge problems: riots, more Church v. State constitutional issues, and an economy that will be in even more trouble.
