Apple released a new software update for the iPhone today, which includes homescreen customization, including the ability for up to 9 homescreens and the saving of webclips on the homescreen; a location triangulater in the maps feature; the ability to send SMS messages to multiple people (why wasn’t this here before?); and lyric and chapter as well as rented movie support from iTunes in the iPod mode.
I’m excited about the ability to triangulate your own position using cell and Wi-Fi towers; this is one feature I missed since I changed it back to stock after hacking the software a while ago. Also, the 9 homescreen thing? That tells me third party software, and it’s coming soon. It looks like with the addition of this thing there’s also webapps, games and whatnot that are on the web, that you can add a bookmark to right on the homescreen, making it as close to third party software on the iPhone as it gets without the hack. THAT will be the greatest day in iPhone history, when third party software is available.
