It is a fact that former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr has been spotted around the Syracuse University campus recently. Does that mean he has come to save our dying program? Some say he may just be there as a “consultant.” What he is consulting on is anyone’s guess. In 13 years at Michigan he won 5 Big Ten titles, went to 13 consecutive bowl games and won a national championship in 1997. I’ll take that. But he is not exactly a spring chicken and I would love to see a young and hungry coach to revamp the whole program. Like what Greg Schiano did at Rutgers. He took a joke of a team to respectability and did so by bringing all the recruits that in the past may have gone to Syracuse and filtering them into New Jersey. That is one big reason SU sucks so bad now. SU is the new Rutgers, a joke. But beggars can’t be choosers and if Carr was the guy, i’ll take it.
Somewhere Paul Pasqualoni has a big smile on his face.
I hated Coach P as much as anyone. But at least Pasqualoni would get some players to come to Syracuse. No question he was a pretty good recruiter. His problem was he couldn’t coach for shit! No matter how much talent was on the field he would be sure to coach them to a minimum 2 or 3 loses a year. (See 1998, that team was loaded) But now we have a shit coach AND no players coming in! Do something!
